On Friday night, a court filing from Capital One denied there was any political motivation behind the closure of more than 380 bank accounts in the names of Donald Trump and the Trump Organization. Instead, it stated, the accounts were closed “for anti-money laundering reasons.” It said “transaction patterns” had triggered the review.

Many times over the years, I have been denounced, yelled at, protested, threatened, and heckled. I’ve been through political attacks in office, death threats in public life, and rocket attacks in war. But this is the ugliest thing that has happened to me since my career in service began.

That’s why Carlos Eduardo Espina and I are rolling out a 10-point plan to hold ICE accountable and reform immigration enforcement: Vote no on the DHS funding bill. Repeal the multi-year $75 billion funding for ICE. Impeach Noem and Bondi. End qualified immunity for ICE agents. Investigate and prosecute every single ICE agent who broke the law. End the Kavanaugh stops with racial profiling and the militarization of ICE. Codify a use-of-force standard so courts can enforce the law against rogue ICE agents. Tear down and replace ICE with an agency that has oversight. Prohibit masks and mandate body cameras and visible identification for immigration officers. Establish human rights standards at immigration detention facilities.
