Holy crap, been to the Lake Merritt garden a couple of times and somehow missed the history on this guy! Amusingly a friend posted on linkedin this week about the Yamaki White Pine in the Nat’l Bonsai Museum in DC, which has been in training since 1625. Also missed that when i was there!
