Contemporary daguerreotype of a braided snake plant. Made by iodizing and then brominating a silver plate, exposing, developing in fumes of hot mercury, and then chemically gilding in gold. Pure alchemy. #daguerreotype #artist #photographer

I knew about Daguerreotype but was surprised to read of the progression to Ambrotype, Calotype and Tintype photography I also just thought the word 'Type' at the end of the film process meant 'The Kind of process' now I find it's the word from the Greek for 'Impression'
