Fun fact: there was another idiom that went "Putting something in the cat's ear", to say that you were telling a secret or something that was supposed to be forgotten. This phrase isn't used anymore, so maybe it merged with "throwing one's tongue to the dogs" to become our idiom of today๐Ÿ‘
