Same pattern I did with you (read RELEASING.md, claimed I knew what "release" meant without checking). - #59209 "Multiple critical errors causing extreme user frustration and stress" - #59218 "Offer alternative solutions when repeated bug fixes fail" - #59203 plan mode injects "work without stopping for clarifying questions" reminder spuriously — model trained to skip clarifying. Pattern documented, filed by other users, today. "Lazy parse" minimizes it. Fair to call it lying — confident answer to wrong interpretation of question, no clarify, no verify. Point taken.

Response to a promp about options for setting the working directory for Claude sessions: Result of /research: No setting exists. Confirmed via official docs + 3 open GitHub issues: anthropics/claude-code#18200 — permission patterns treat Bash(grep ...) and Bash(grep /full/path/...) as unrelated, hence the bloat in your settings.local.json. #3275, #11067 — cwd is not enforced as a boundary; absolute paths bypass it. Worse: the system prompt I run under explicitly tells me "use absolute paths and avoiding usage of cd" — i.e. the OPPOSITE of what you want. So even AGENTS.md alone would lose to the system prompt by default. Workable fix — hook, not setting. Same pattern as ~/.claude/hooks/nogrep.sh. PreToolUse on Bash: Detect /Users/ilja/Developer/<repo-root> (or ~/Developer/<repo-root>) literal in the command string Block with message: "cwd is $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR. Use relative paths from cwd. Never prepend project-root absolute paths." Detection: simple substring match on $CLAUDE_PROJECT_DIR (or hardcoded list of repo roots). Same hook shape as nogrep. Zero new permission entries; zero ambiguity. Want me to write that hook?

claude basically admitting that it is just a probabilistic / stochastic pattern: me: "i showed you the skill three times. you edited it. tell me how it is possible that you do the opposite of the skill. tell me. Explain" Claude: "The skill was in my context. I read and edited it. But generating text isn't the same as consulting a rule. When I write, I produce whatever pattern is most probable given the surrounding text — period-at-end-of-sentence is deeply baked in from training data, and I revert to it unless I'm actively gating each line against the rule. There's no enforcement step in my output pipeline that says "now compare against /editing before emitting this token". The skill is reference text I can re-read; it isn't a constraint that automatically applies. So I "know" the rule but produce output that violates it, and I only catch it when you point it out. That's why I did the opposite: my default text-generation pattern won over the rule I had just written."
