OKAY SO IT'S BACK I GUESS BUT I'M DOING THE POST-MORTEM MANIFESTO ANYWAY. Doing TikTok the last 4.5 years has given me a level of community (& occasionally income) for my content I'd never thought possible. I'd done YouTube, podcasts, the works, and appreciated any friend who kept up with them. But TikTok was the first time I'd ever felt a real return on the effort put into it. I made a couple hundred friends with it (most of which are mutuals here now as of this week, what's up). On some months I've been able to pay chunks of my rent with it. My work with @udiscovermusic came as a result of them seeing me yap about old music & asking if I could do that with them. So, back as it may or may not be, the idea of our government ripping away 5 years of millions of people's memories, memes, portfolios & livelihoods is, to put it charitably, insulting. For folks 5-10 years younger than me, it's a burning of the scrapbooks of their formative years. I've spent the last week or so archiving everything, and I'll probably continue to do so on the off chance this happens again.
