"I release freeware myself as well and have several reasons for doing so. But the main and most significant is that no person is more or less deserving of experiencing art based on how many stupid numbers they have. If a game is $70, only people who have $70 are “allowed” to experience it. To be callous, this is fucking stupid. What is the correlation there? Someone having a whole $70 to spare does not make them a more deserving recipient than someone who does not. Obviously in the indie space the value proposition is much lower but the principal is the same. If someone can’t spare $15 to engage with something they’re interested in, why should they be disallowed from doing so? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Obviously artists do need to be supported for their work but I do not believe this has to come at the cost of keeping certain demographics of people out. People with low incomes or going through a tough financial period or people with no income at all obviously deserve to enjoy art the same as anyone else. The ideal path through this is all games being “pay what you want” where there is no barrier to entry at all, but those who are willing and capable of giving have means to. Of course this isn’t the world we live in now but it is a future I believe in so I live by these beliefs, regarding the accessibility of my own work. What people don’t always realize is how generous people really will “pay what they want” when a predetermined price point isn’t locked onto a given work. If someone has the means and they appreciate the thing enough in my experience they really will reflect that in what they give back. In my mind this is really the only ethical pricing method that makes sense, and if it became widespread enough I think it would work out perfectly fine. The suggestion that revenue into the medium is suffering because people are offering too much value too willingly is completely ridiculous. That’s the point of being alive!!"

Responding on a forum talking about Metroid's tone: "Here’s my theory, which nobody should invest in because I don’t know anything about the Prime games and didn’t even enjoy the few hours I played of the first one. I’m likely within the top three most unqualified users in this forum to speak on this. I feel like… Of course they have to know this, right? The only thing that could make this decision make sense is if they feel a crushing hostile atmosphere would hit harder when there is warmth and levity to compare it against. I’m saying we’re gonna have a Final Fantasy VI moment where shit gets the worst it’s ever been and facilitates the most oppressive atmosphere Metroid has ever had. I’m not saying all these guys are going to get killed but it kinda would need to be something that dramatic and drastic. I also feel this way because of how they’re handling this strange open world-like central zone. Compared to the rest of the game’s familiarly dense room structure it seems the word of the day for Prime 4 is “contrast.” Please keep in mind that I do not think anything I’m suggesting here is a good idea, but the only logical conclusion I can come to about why they would do these things to a Metroid game. If they’re showing a juvenile motorcycle power fantasy it stands to reason they will eventually strip it away to make the player feel more vulnerable than if they never had it to begin with. If they’re introducing quirky redditor cops bumbling around it stands to reason they will eventually strip them away to make the player feel more lonely than if they were never there to begin with. I think it’s a worthwhile direction to pursue since normally Metroid games (at least the 2D ones I’ve played (and adored!)) carry the exact same tone from start to end, so it’s interesting to explore how much deeper those feelings can go when contrasted against others, but of course there’s ways to accomplish this without entirely ruining the identity of the series in the process."
