‘Jazz isn’t just about melody and harmony.’ He slips off the end of the bench and shrugs off his coat at last. ‘It requires active listening with your whole body,’ he says, dragging his fingers down his newly uncovered torso. Satoru follows the movement, swallowing at the expanse of pale skin visible under black mesh, leather straps, silver studs. Then Getō Suguru clicks those very same fingers in his face. Blinking, Satoru urgently lifts his gaze, only to see him sweep his dark hair off his pretty face. Smirking as he pulls his ponytail tight, Getō Suguru downs the rest of Satoru’s drink and slams the glass onto the table. ‘And it requires putting your ego aside.’ — From the summary of chapter 3 of Take It from the Top by greaterglow on AO3.
‘Kylo Ren.’ Of course Getō Suguru likes the woobified emo kid with the tragic backstory. If you’re going to murder an entire village — including the women and the children — at least have a good reason. At least make it a revenge thing. At least make it personal. ‘Darth Vader.’
Staring at Gojō standing in the centre of that confined space, Suguru can’t shake the images burned into his brain by the dreams that wake him in a cold sweat night after night. And what about the fanfics? Suguru’s life isn’t a fanfic, but if it were, this would be the deus ex machina moment. The divine punishment meted out to Suguru for failing to avoid the elevator on this one and only occas— ‘You coming?’ The voice that breaks Suguru’s reverie is like siren song — or perhaps the deadly call of a wolf. Gojō smiles just a little when he adds: ‘Or do you want to get your steps in?’ If he strains his ears, Suguru thinks he can hear the maniacal laughter of an author on a power trip. With a sigh, he steps into the elevator.
Pool water wasn’t good lubricant. They’d probably regret their hastiness later, when the chafe of chlorinated skin caught up with them, but in that moment, Satoru could hardly find it in him to care. A sore dick was a small price to pay for seven minutes in heaven with this man, who had him up against the lockers now, hand too rough and too urgent where he grasped their cocks together. It hurt a bit and it made Satoru weak in the knees all the same. Tangling his fingers in hair heavy with water, Satoru ignored the hiss it earned him to greedily lick into his mouth, past the chemical taste of the pool, past the sterile nothing of lips washed clean of the person they belonged to, searching, searching, searching— Ah, there he was. Suguru.
Like he’s read Satoru’s mind, Getō Suguru says, ‘Improv is just like learning a language. You can do all the structured study in the world, but it’s still going to feel unnatural when you talk to a native speaker for the first time. The key is immersion.’ He gestures to where the instrumentalists are lost in a world of their own on the makeshift stage. Every time Satoru thinks they’re just playing a bunch of notes and hoping for the best, they end a phrase in perfect unison. It’s almost uncanny. If improv is a language, then Satoru feels like he has the wrong anatomy for it. He feels like a dog making rudimentary connections between sounds and actions without grasping their true meaning. There’s eye contact and there are certainly smiles, but it doesn’t explain what he’s hearing — like they’re each doing their own thing, but together. ‘Perfect pitch will help you to pick up the grammar and vocab,’ comes that musical voice again. ‘But if you really want to become fluent in jazz, you need to play with native speakers. People who will push you to improve and drive you to catch up.’
‘Music is for sharing.’ That melodic voice comes softer, warmer now. ‘Isn’t that why we do it?’ Satoru follows his gaze back to the band. He’s never thought about why he does music before, but it’s certainly not for the same reasons as Getō Suguru. He likes the adulation of a crowd well enough — that’s a form of sharing, he supposes — but all of the moments where making music felt like touching magic happened when Satoru was alone. Just him and the piano. Watching Miguel let out a holler of delight as the trumpeter takes the melody from him, cheered on by the rest of the room, he wonders what that feels like. ‘Ever done any improvisation?’ Another stupid question from Getō Suguru. ‘Obviously I’ve done—’ At the look on his face, Satoru swallows his response. ‘Right,’ he grits out. ‘You mean jazz.’ Reluctantly, because he isn’t lacking, Satoru admits, ‘No.’ ‘What about transcription?’ ‘I have perfect pitch.’ At his side, Getō Suguru’s pretty lips curl into a smile that looks more like a sneer. ‘Of course you have perfect pitch,’ he mutters. ‘Well then, it should be even easier for you to get the hang of this. Watch the soloist.’
For the women of JJK (and planet Earth, probably), there is a dissonance between fulfilment and recognition, because recognition from whom? Valuable by whose standards? I think it speaks to what makes this ship so appealing to me as someone who has always considered themselves a JJK fan first and a shipper second. It's the polarity between the two characters within the context of jujutsu society and, honestly, just Japanese society: man vs woman, strong vs weak, individualism vs collectivism, modernism vs traditionalism. It's the way privilege opens up a chasm between them like Infinity, but also the way they overcome that in pursuit of the same ends. The ship is unpopular in our shared circles, but if people can put aside their biases and look a little deeper, I think they'll see that all the potential for a rich and complex relationship dynamic is right there, even if it's not to their personal taste. As soon as you start to interrogate "she hates him" through the lens of their respective places in the story and in society, some really interesting opportunities open up.

The groan Satoru let out as he felt strong muscles stiffen and relax between his fingers was almost as deranged as Suguru’s. ‘God, your ass looks so good,’ Satoru gasped, pulling the G-string away from Suguru’s skin only to let it snap back again. When Suguru let out a garbled string of curses, Satoru took it as a sign of encouragement. He reared his hand back and brought it down with a crack, biting down on Suguru’s shoulder at the sight of his flesh rippling outwards on impact. ‘Fuck,’ he rasped. ‘So fucking pretty like this, baby.’

But Sukuna doesn't care about waiting for other people to be ready. He does as he pleases, and uses people as he pleases, so him being able to use RCT on others is, in a way, saying he doesn't have to care about their boundaries or their feelings. They will live and die at his whims.
"Gojo doesn't believe he can reach others unless they reach him first." This feels like it to me! A slight rephrasing might be "if he reaches for others first, they won't become the people he's trying to reach for." He really believes very strongly in self-determination. He's clearly not afraid of stepping in and saving people, either (see yuji and yuta, etc etc. many such examples). But he always gives them a choice in that help. Do you want to come with me? He asks Megumi.
