Experimental design of the study with two sites (one marine and one terrestrial), seven single-use items (gum, cigarette filter, tea bags, drinking straw, takeaway box, forks, shopping bags), made of either plastic or a biodegradable material. We used five replicate for each treatment combinations leading to 70 litterbags per site.
