I barely worked with Chris Trevisan: I told him a problem, he solved it nbd, and he wrote a solo-author SODA paper (arxiv.org/abs/2310.09483). He also won the CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher award (uwaterloo.ca/computer-sci...). He, too, is starting his PhD at MIT EECS 6/n

Finally, when Xingtu Liu (@xingtu-liu.com) was a Waterloo undergrad, we worked on private optimization. He went on to his Master's at SFU, and he's now into theory of reinforcement learning. He's starting his PhD at UCLA Stats & DS rltheory.com 7/n
