TDs will vote this evening on removing the 72-hour waiting period for abortion within 12 weeks, and removing the 28-day limit applying to cases of fatal foetal abnormalities.

I had a miscarriage 18 months ago. I had to walk around with it for extra days because of this waiting period. I sat thinking about it for three days, unable to start to move on.
Whitmore’s own niece has spoken about the limitations of the latter clause in her own case - she pursued an abortion in Britain because her baby had a foetal abnormality but was expected to survive beyond 28 days. The baby’s remains were packed in ice and smuggled home in the boot of the car.
In Australia there is no waiting period and a GP referral isn't needed. The 'day after' pill is available over the counter in pharmacies for €9 to €27, depending on the brand. It's most effective within the first 24 hours. I can't believe the Dáil is so backward. Controlling not serving.
A lot of TD's couldn't give a fuck about Women's health, most don't seem to give much of a fuck about our health full stop. Scoliosis, CAHMs, A&E and so on. And Fuck SF for abstaining.
