Craigslist post reads as follows: “Gentrification and stripping employees of 6 years from their jobs. You bought out a local coffee shop to add your 4th location of a sterile gentrified cafe. The baristas/ management of Grounded NW ( previous cafe) were informed 4 days before the doors closed on all of us. MATT BROWN AND JONATHAN FELIX-LUND sent an email to employees offering to interview for our jobs back. They then canceled all of the interviews the evening of, with no follow up. We have called, texted, and emailed trying to figure out what the status of the interview we were promised to have is. It has been almost a mont of trying to contact you two. You even listed a job listing, but had no time to reach out to the employees who have been with the corner cafe for over 6 years? You left management, and baristas jobless, with false hope, and could not be human enough to respond to ANY of us who have been diligent with trying to contact you. You didn't just strip us from our jobs, you stripped us from the community we created, and the family we have made for years. Yet you are too much of a coward to communicate with us. I ran into your gentrification carpenter, he told me you folks have finished your hiring process and are set to open this Friday. You didn't think it was right to respond to any of us that have been desperate for the "opportunity" you promised us to have? To the NW Portland community, support OTHER local coffee shops and do not give people like this your business. Give your hard earning dollars to people who respect individuals & employees. Not insensitive cowards. Business owners and property managers. DO BETTER!”
