We're starting a weekly conversation thread called #AskAGameDev! 🎮 Each week we'll share a prompt, and we would love it if folks could quote repost or reply below with their answer. To kick it off, we'll start easy - what inspired YOU to start making games? #gamedev

I've always loved coming up with my own little stories as a kid, creating rules and stories for my friends to play on the playground. But the inspiration really kicked in when I played Undertale and learned what an "indie game" really was, and it made me realize I could do it myself!!

When I first played D&D, my group started to want some custom items, my DM needed a few interesting side character ideas, I wanted to write a generator with ideas for one-shot adventures... before I knew it, I was writing game content and I realized I wanted to keep doing so no matter the medium!

I've always loved creating and designing characters and stories, whether through drawing, writing or play. And of course loved video games. I got involved in the NYC indie scene and worked on a small game demo. The moment I experienced someone play something I helped make, I was hooked.

Our hope is that this'll start conversations or inspire others, or maybe even help you connect with someone like-minded/shares the same interests! Have fun and keep it kind and civil! (Otherwise get banished to the hide reply shadow realm)
