Original text for resolution.THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, while the richest corporations in the world walk away with the profits and tax subsidies, working families are left paying higher electricity bills, water restrictions, noise pollution and polluted air; the Democratic Party will fight for economic and climate justice by calling for a nationwide moratorium on hyperscale data center construction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, $64 billion in U.S. data center projects have been blocked or delayed by a growing wave of local, bipartisan opposition. The Democratic Party affirms and stands with the communities that are pushing back against data center development such as Cascade Locks, Oregon and Peculiar, Missouri; and supporting communities such as Goodyear and Buckeye, Arizona that have successfully blocked new data center development via grassroots organizing. BE IT RESOLVED, That the Democratic Party will urge its elected leaders at all levels of government to evaluate the risks of unregulated and unfettered data center construction and support policies that center community input and feedback on decisions regarding data center construction.

Please vote No. We don't need to establish a new Interim Zoning District to prohibit data centers. Establishing a new zoning district implies future intent. We need an outright ban on data centers which disportionately use electricity and will make our bills higher and rely on fresh water. A data center will further strain SWBNO an we can look to San Antonio for our future on how it will affect our municipal water. An analysis reported in Newsweek, compiled by San Antonio Water System, revealed that the Alamo City data centers ran by Microsoft and the Army Corps used a combined 463 million gallons of water in 2023 and 2024, water equivalent to the usage of tens of thousands of households. The revelation comes as SAWS enforces Stage 3 watering rules, meaning San Antonio residents are only allowed to water lawns once per week and on a specially designated day. We don't need data centers in New Orleans. We can look to our neighbors on quality of life and environmental impact. The only local jobs will come from construction. We don't need data centers in New Orleans. Please vote no.
