The claim with which they went viral was that roughly 10% of all engineers are so-called "ghost engineers" who don't contribute anything. Well played, because that's not what the paper is about. In the paper, they tried to build an AI that measures productivity based on code contributions.
Thanks for shedding some light on this and talking about the real issue. I have recently heard this claim as well and now I am still wondering how they came up with the percentage of ghost developers?
