He deserved to be knighted, and celebrated in England and by the Allies for his achievements. What a horror & disgrace to chemically castrate someone for their sexual orientation. An article I read says that it took until 2009 for the British government to apologize for that they did.

The impact of his work goes far. The cracking of enigma was kept secret to the extent that MI6 pushed false narratives to distract from the truth. One example was the publication of the fictional exploits of a British super-spy to seed a false narrative about how they got ULTRA postwar intel. 007

His invaluable contributions to advancing the war effort prove what happens when gay people in society get over their freakin’ selves and do something for OTHER causes.
Turing didn’t just die from cyanide poisoning, he tragically committed suicide.
And this was at a time when half the members of parliament were closet queens and public schoolboys were being buggered by their Seniors. Lots of double standards then, even moreso now!

A terrible thing and I hope the British government never forgives itself. A brilliant mind lost to religious based wrong thinking.
My dad came out of basic training (US Army) in early 1945. Shipped overseas, but never saw any actual combat because the war ended much sooner than it would have were it not for Turing's work. Obviously I can't prove he saved my dad's life (and thus my existence), but no one can tell me he didn't.
Turing was an unbelievably brilliant scientist. He figured out how zebras get their stripes and leopards get their spots (he wrote a paper in 1952 that explained "morphogenesis" using "reaction-diffusion equations").

I've read that "chemically castrated" line so often by now, so I checked Wikipedia, which says he was actually forced to take (synthetic) estrogen which made him kill himself. So basically, the British government killed him with gender dysphoria for being gay.
Really? We're still going to pretend the hundreds of people that were working on this and the Poles that solved the earlier version just didn't exist? Like Turing was some Tony Stark, alone in a cave, solving Enigma with a couple rocks and a stick?
Alan was a genius and a true hero.
