I JUST watched this!! Such a wonderful film!
Just watched it last night, enjoy.
Just thought of watching that movie again as a primer for Disclosure Day.
My favorite of all time
I remember telling my mom I was going to see that when it opened &, because of the title, she thought it was porn 🤭
I thought this movie was over-rated ... The aliens went to all that trouble to contact certain people but the government sent their own team in?
Just my opinion: Spielberg's two best films are Close Encounters and Raiders

Spielberg said that now as a a dad if he were to do it again he would not get on the spacecraft.

Pro tip: if your spouse leaves the house at night and comes home the very same night with a sunburn on half of their face ranting about how they saw some crazy shit, maybe be a bit supportive. Unless they maybe have a history of similar tanning-bed related pranks.
First movie I saw in a theater (a proper big screen back then)!
I saw this with the same two buds from HS that I had seen Star Wars with. I was disappointed at first. Then I watched as NOT a Space SciFi cinematic wonder, and as a near-perfect SciFi STORY.
I'm going to remember this movie forever, AND Devil's Tower. Reason I say this, I took a vacation several years ago and went to Devil's Tower. While there, I got the idea... I'm going to watch Close Encounters while AT Devil's Tower. I've watched it many times through the years, that, was the best.

It’s so much more profound than I remember. I just rewatched it last night.
Remember seeing it in the theatre when it first came out. I enjoyed the movie so much back then and I still do to this day. Every time I see black clouds moving in I always think of the cloud scenes from the movie. Always say to myself “time to bring the kids in.”
I wish I could see it for the first time again.

Saw it again in the theatre last month. It holds up. I think its better than Disclosure Day. Of course Jaws is the best.

Objectively, the world is full of miserable dads who would benefit their own lives and their kids' lives if they were abducted by aliens. Why no, I don't have kids, what made you ask. "It's better than Goofy Golf!"
The story of a man so annoyed by his family that he chooses to go into space with aliens he barely knows.
I remember seeing this when it first opened. When my husband and I walked outside after the movie, we looked up and thought “the sky is so empty”. In Hollywood!

We were just there a week ago. Bear Lodge Mountain is a beautiful place. I still had to make sure the cattle were all standing and didn't want to hear any helicopters.

I loved it as a kid. Now I question how the guy can leave his Family to be with Aliens even if Teri Garr was kinda bitchy.
