Billionaires don’t have the $ to support teachers. They need that $ for more yachts, vacation homes and mistresses with coke habits.

And yet again, Bezos is still correct. He pays pretty much nothing in taxes. Doubling zero is...zero. Billionaires don't have money. They have EPIC SHIT TONS OF DEBT. They borrow against their shares, their property, which is why most of them take almost no salary. CLOSE THE FUCKING LOOPHOLES.

Bezos only thinks that the point of raising his taxes is to raise tax revenue. It isn’t. It is to compel him to distribute more of his company’s profits to its workers.
If Billionaires paid 28% on ALL income including stocks, not just the paltry wage they take, then or would bring in enough extra tax to allow millions to pay almost nothing

If I had that much money (or even considerably less), I'd be glad to support others with some of it. In the form of taxes, because expecting the average person to rely on the voluntary generosity of the rich isn't capitalism, it's feudalism.

For reference: if we take for good the number out there, doubling Bezos personal income tax would fund 61,000 new elementary school teachers for 1 year. Good things are cheap,‘billionaires are expensive.
If I lose 15% of my pay, billionaires need to as well. They should not be able to take interest free loans out on debt, and they need to pay more taxes since they take so much from the working class. They do zero to help the country, if we got rid of billionaires, we would be much better off.
Or we could just eat them.

The thing is if he did actually have as much money as Bezos, I’m confident given the nature of the man, despite what he says here, he would NOT say the same thing as Bezos. He’d likely be more in line with Buffett’s comments on taxes on the super wealthy.

This isn't an affordability crisis at core, but a cash flow crisis. Somehow, as a society, we allowerd people to take money out of circulation and put it in enormous accounts, where it sits and does nothing. Now, over 95 percent of all money is bound like that, and there's not enough to go around.
Sorry to contradict Mamdani, but I strongly doubt that if he was as wealthy as Bezos, he would be the same as Bezos. Mamdani would definitely be using his wealth for society & for programs to help people in need. Mamdani would absolutely not be "hoarding" his wealth for selfish gains & use.
I do t think his tax should be doubled. I think the wealthy should be taxed even more than double whatever minuscule tax they have now.

In the north, we do a bunch of a lot with very little. If we can be creative and use funds wisely, the benefit of billionaire taxes would be exponentially multipled. I guarantee you that the teacher in Harlem can do way more with $100 than a teacher in Brentwood can. Jeff's logic don't hold water.

Bezos is not lying. He pays so little in taxes that doubling his taxes wouldn't have any large effect. However restructuring the tax rates and eliminating loopholes would have a significant effect on teachers and other social programs.
There is nobody in politics who does positives like him.
Regardless of the rate, parasites like him bribe and cheat their way out of taxes.
Man, NYC is so large it's practically a City-State in of itself, so the Mayor is practically a president of his own city-sized nation. And Mamdani is showing himself not just up to the task, but showing he has a future. America will follow him.
