"Spoilers for Home Movies in this post if you care I think the ending is hitting me as much as it is because I've been struggling a lot with my own creativity lately. I remember being young and not really caring how silly or weird my ideas were-- I was just really excited to make stuff. I let that unfiltered passion carry me through thick and thin. As I got older, though, I became faaaar more critical of the kinds of ideas I had and how I wanted to do them. Theres stuff I made years ago that I struggle to come back to because I was simply a far different person than I was when I first started it- to the point where I'm not even sure if its something that could be salvaged. I think I was projecting super hard on those fictional kids whether I was actively aware of it or not, so seeing them all come to such a similar kind of conclusion of "My art isn't really made for an audience, why are we even spending so much time making these?" and they all just. Move on from it. Just like that. Everyone grows out of hobbies, especially ones they had when they were children, but the very sudden way they went from enjoying their craft and getting praised for it to feeling super apathetic about it really just...I don't know, I guess it held a mirror to me. I don't think that was the intention at all, but that was the response I got. And ofc theres always the "loose ends" that are bound to exist when you have so many little arcs going on in the background that make me hunger for more. The show wasn't cut THAT short, 4 seasons is still decent esp these days. Still though. Thats 52 episodes. And it took me maybe 2 and a half days to get through them all. It makes me wonder what would've happened if they had at least one more season."
