third poem, 10/21 Not Empty What I think tends to evaporate. A preponderance of thoughts amounts to nothing. For this reason, I am absent from this place. I am naked and afraid in a clearing. I am so tired, and I don’t need sleep. Will you love me anyway? You make me feel wretched and awful. My name will not be found written in the Book of Life. I see you over there, a chasm of terror between us. How can I explain — ? What can I say? A deer eludes its hunter in a densely-wooded place. Let’s not break the blessed silence.
