No, they´re not. My teenage friend Sandra has two African Greys who live in a huge aviary, but they may fly around free in the house for about half of the day, as soon as Sandra, her husband Thomas and their son Simon finished lunch.

4) to think that their cage is a safer place, an easier place to survive, does survival isntinct kick in? And then we have imprinting. Some parrots imprint on the first face they see, which means they may recognize humans as their own and recognize themselves as human if hand reared. I'd still go

3) if he gets to socialize and run around with his mates, like a kid is. Now i can't get into the head of parrots, and while some return when they are let out by mistake, they often get lost 'apparently' but the ones that return, return for a positive reason. Do they prefer the free meals enough

1) Lets not jump the gun here. The easy and obvious answer is no however, to understand anything you have to give it context. Is a dog truly happy caged in a house? no it always wants to go for a walk, and many will escape if they can for a free run....but they always come home. Much like a child
