I'll be moving on to overhead action games from 1990-1995 on The Greatest Games You (Probably) Never Played, and it's surprising how much that genre was starting to die at that point after being huge in the 80s. Here are a few games I'll be featuring soon!

One question worth considering: why were scrolling shoot 'em ups and sidescrolling beat 'em ups having an early 90s surge while overhead and isometric shooters were dying off? I think it mostly had to do with lack of character detail and the difficulty of controlling isometric diagonal perspectives
