As a cis person, I began my 'journey' into trans-awareness on the assumption that trans people are who they represent themselves to be. Who am I to say otherwise? Who am I to demand that they 'prove themselves', as the 'trans question' demands? If a person gives me reason to doubt their honesty or intent, I will be cautious of them, but otherwise I accept people on their terms. Peterson and Joyce are no more objective than I am; they start from a position of hostility to trans people and make assumptions based on that. I have curiosity about what it's like to be trans, because it's not an experience I easily relate to; they can't relate to it either, but their 'ew, trans' reaction makes them fundamentally incurious, and pushes them to make shit up to rationalise their transphobia. I hope the reposted video stays up, because its an exemplar of the nastiness and dishonesty of the anti-trans movement.

LGB stands for lesbian, gay and bisexual - people who are same-sex attracted. TQ+ covers gender identity, which is a distinct thing, Organisations that attempt to serve both often end up serving neither well- and in practice, tend to prioritise TQ+ constituents at the expense of LGB people. In 2021, the government abandoned the aggregate term BAME following the Inclusive Britain report, which found it failed to reflect the differing needs of those it covered. LGB Alliance is calling for the same approach to LGBTQ+. Don't Call Me Queer is LGB Alliance's campaign for same-sex attracted people to have specific representation that actually serves their needs.
