AI-powered Flock cameras are tracking where we drive, sparking a nationwide conversation about surveillance and privacy. Join fellow community members to discuss how Flock cameras are being used in Oshkosh, balancing safety and privacy, and what we can do to protect our data. Help us shape a community response ahead of the April 21 city council meeting, when council will vote on renewing a contract with Flock. Make your voice heard! Free and open to the public. Thank you to the community for expressing your concern about our voter guide. This voter guide is not an endorsement. Our endorsement process is only open to engaged members who have formally joined the chapter as a dues paying member prior to announcing a run for office. Ideally, it should be members who are deeply involved in the chapters work and are running because they are a member and they want to further our political platform in local or state office. Our process includes a questionnaire where members need to show us how their run furthers the chapter's work and then an interview with chapter members where we assess things like character and resolve, followed by an all-chapter vote. The only members who have our endorsement and have engaged fully in this process that are currently running for office are Pete Borchardt, who serves as our chapter co-chair and Francesca Hong, who is a member of the Madison Chapter. The individuals running for office in our guide are a mix of members who chose not to engage in the endorsement process, members who are not eligible for endorsement, and non members. The thing they have in common is that their political platforms line up at least 60% with our platform. Many line up with more than that. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, just stand out people who have come across our executive committee’s desk as candidates who have policy that are a good match to some of our policy. These individuals do not necessarily perfectly reflect our values nor were they consulted prior to being added to this guide. This list is considered political, it is not about the personal. If you have material information that is a concern about one of our members, please reach out to our grievance officers, you can email them at newdsagrievance@gmail.com. We have a formal process in place that must be followed. We take grievance and harassment very seriously and follow our process by the book.

10/26/2025 The Northeast Wisconsin Democratic Socialists of America express strong concern regarding the placement of Coach Kominiko "Niko" Sila on administrative leave at Green Bay East High School. Coach Niko has had an immeasurably positive impact on countless students and their families since coming to the Green Bay Area Public School District. None of the publicly known allegations against Coach Niko - who is understood to be an upstanding and loved member of the faculty and the community - adequately justify the punishment currently imposed. We strongly suspect that the punishment and investigation currently underway are influenced by Coach Niko's race, as the Green Bay Area Public School District has consistently demonstrated inequitable treatment of black and brown staff and students. The Northeast Wisconsin Democratic Socialists of America call for full transparency of the ongoing investigation against him, including the public disclosure of all twenty allegations levied. In the meantime, we stand in full support of Coach Niko and all students unjustly impacted by his placement on administrative leave, and hope to see his return to work as soon as possible. Antifascist organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America will help you stay connected to the larger movement for a better world and keep you up to date on future actions in your area.
Unionize your workplace! We didn't get the weekend, the minimum wage, the forty-hour work week, child labor laws, and so many more rightswe take for granted today by voting or protesting. We got them through union power! If we stop working, the machine stops running. So talk to your coworkers about the right to organize!
