turns out Warhol didn't just make paintings of Albert Speer's Lichtdom; he made a whole series of Speer-related paintings for a massive international group show in Berlin in 1982 called Zeitgeist. Warhol also just liked Speer's work and had Leni Riefenstahl over for lunch 🙃 greg.org/archive/2026...

speaking of art world & nazis, I did not know Leni Riefenstahl's propaganda film Triumph of the Will had actually been a turgid 2h mess, but in 1941 MoMA edited it down to a snappy 45-min "study version," which took off. Buñuel later claimed credit for the edit. J Hoberman wrote about it in 2019
