gregorg @greg.org · Jun 15 hi large animal veterinarian sky, what animal do you think this large bone fragment the size of a small plaster cast of a human heel came from, and is it the head of a femur that jasper johns would have found easily in new york city in 1955, or would he have to hunt around? 🙏

A large animal vet I know but isn’t on Bluesky says that looks like the right shape and size for a pig’s left femur, but not the head but the distal end (near the knee), and that it would be easy to get one from a butcher’s. Here is a wild boar’s for comparison:
