Mr. Yuk is a bright green, frowning face icon with a stuck-out tongue. Created in 1971 by Dr. Richard Moriarty at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, the mascot was designed to warn children away from household poisons as a modern replacement for the traditional skull-and-crossbones symbol.
