I was a kid during the AIDS crisis, and as I was joining the queer and kink communities as a young adult, most of the elders who welcomed me had buried so many lovers and friends. We were taught grief and joy, loss and love. And most of my life I've been legislated against and the forces of darkness have done their best to stamp me--us--out. But, dammit, I'm still here. And I believe that continuing to live, love, and--yes!--play, while remembering what came before us and what we face today, is the best way to honour those memories.
