Two human soldiers point at and observe an elvish woman and her dog fishing in a restricted area. One man says "Oi! How did someone get in 'ere?" The second man says "You're dreamin'. No one can get past us--" and then notices the woman. He says, "What the--? Hey!"
"Let's see if we can scrounge up proper cribs for the babes," Krile says, leading G'raha over to the pile of hastily moved furniture on the far side of the room. The Scions all begin to bustle about, finding ways to be helpful and to impede each other at the same time. While they roam about, and bicker, and laugh, Bee finds her attention locked solely on her little girl. "Look at your family," she murmurs, her voice soft and high. "They'll not let anything happen to you. You and your brother are safe, my love, everything will be all right." "Thou hast the right of it."
As the evening wears on, conversations around the Rising Stones change. For a time, everyone's voices get a little quieter and the mood becomes somber. Everyone avoids acknowledging it in the open, but they all know where their minds wander. No one wants to be the first person to openly ask, "what if we fail," or the first to give an answer. Then, after the grim aura has waned, the Scions start to laugh again. Someone orders a round of drinks. Memories turn into stories, and by the later bells, the room feels more like a reunion than a funeral. "You ought to have seen it," Alisaie says, gesturing with a hand above her head. "Absolutely enormous." "Yes, the business is doing quite well," Tataru modestly agrees. "And the profits Bee turns through her beautiful island property are attracting all the right kinds of attention." "Bee," a gentle voice calls. Bee whips her head around and is out of her seat before another thought can cross her mind. "Is there—?"
"Can I have a word with you, love? In private? Pressing future Dawnservant business," Bee says as she takes Urianger's hand and pulls him away. Perhaps she says it a little louder than is necessary. No one is looking their way—except, Alisaie glances toward them and gives them an exasperated eye roll, and Thancred is pretending a little too hard that he didn't give her this idea in the first place. And Erenville— Well. No one is looking their way to stop them, anyway. Quite the opposite, if Thancred is to be believed. "Would you just—corner your husband in an alley somewhere and ravish him? The way you two moon after each other is, unfortunately, rather inconvenient for the rest of us." "Art thou well?" Urianger asks, following loyally as she drags him around the curve of an earthenware house. "What emergency hast thee in need of my—?" Bee grins. Leading him further toward the back of the building, away from prying eyes, she places his hand on her hip.
Wrapping her fingers around his arm, holding him in place, Bee presses closer. "I know. And I understand if you think me foolish. If something happened, I… I would regret letting the chance pass us by when we still could." "But thou art stubborn," Urianger teases. "I am," she says. "And silly. And…" She clasps him tighter, pressing herself harder into his grip. They will part ways soon, back to the bitter cold, and she means to soak up all the warmth of him she can before their time is up. "I am afraid," she admits. "And I am afraid to be afraid. I fear both being wrong and being right, and that we may only have a short while to be together after everything we've been through. And I hate the idea that something I want so badly would begin in terror rather than in bliss."
"Ere thy departure, beloved," Urianger murmurs, taking Bee's hand in his, "I thought to take a moment in private to… to ask thee, once again. In case thou wert of a… different mind than before." Bee sighs. It is a beautiful place to be asked. They stand upon an isolated tower balcony the Watcher had been kind enough to offer, iridescent blue tile and grey stone in geometric patterns around them. The black expanse of space is infinitely peppered with glittering stars beyond counting. Their own star seems almost suspended amongst them, hung like a marble from a string. Even the red glow of Zodiark's prison has its charms. All of it together contributes to the eerie majesty of a place that had once been completely beyond her imagining. It still is not what she wants.

U— Idyllshire is nothing like I have ever seen. The sounds and smells, gobbie-speak and hammers and charcoal and exhaust, never stop no matter what the time or weather. The people here work hard, but they are cheerful in their labor, and they speak to each other like all are equal. It brings to mind, in contrast, the austere grey and snowy silence of Ishgard. While I have, of course, been welcomed kindly and care for the city as if it were my own, there is still no denying that it is home to disparity. One might work to the point of exhaustion and still not have a hot meal and a bed. Another may spend their day in nothing but torpor and enjoy more wealth than they could spend in two lifetimes. Anyway. I know you are not able to say, but how is— Is there any news regarding— I miss— "Kupo-po!" "Just another minute!" "Some of us have deadlines to keep, kupo!"

"Thou hast found me remiss in my duties," he says. "I beg thy clemency. T'was never my intent to startle thee." Bee shakes her head. "I startled you. I didn't mean to, you looked so… You seem tired."
"Good morning," Bee says softly. "Forgive my intrusion, I thought only that…" Urianger lets out a soft snore. A laugh rips out of Bee, which she stifles quickly. Approaching slowly, she tips her head to the side and considers the text open in front of him. The book, she finds, is upside-down. "Poor thing," she murmurs. She bends to reach past him and turn the book around, to see if anything jumps out at her as it relates to primals, and balances herself with a delicately placed hand on his shoulder. If she keeps her touch light, she thinks, it's not like to rouse him. He is warm. The fabric of his robes are rough spun. His shoulders rise and fall with each breath—and then they go stiff. Urianger sits up with an alacrity that leaves Bee breathless with temporary fear. She pulls her hand away as if it's been burned, holding it to her chest, and takes a step back. "Oh," she says, unable to think of anything else.
Bee's footsteps echo in the Waking Sands as she makes her way toward the main room. The place is nearly empty—a rarity, to her mind, but then she is rarely here so early in the morning. Her mind awash with a myriad of troubles, she'd given up on sleep an hour or so ago. What exactly she means to do here, however, she doesn't know. Finding someone to converse with, perhaps, or to struggle her way through a book that expounds upon the harder-to-understand concepts relevant to their quests. Perhaps both in one, if she is lucky. She does not let herself admit it in so many words. If she opens the door hoping to see a specific person, no one needs to be the wiser. Not even herself. Sneaking past the wood paneled door, she feels her stomach flip at the sight of Urianger. Bent low over a book, his hands balled on his lap, his presence in the room is not a surprise. He seems to keep odd hours, always with books and notes and cross-references.
