Michael Stearns - Chronos OST on cd I’ve been recently enjoying the Stearns soundtracked films of Ron Fricke but ironically the only one I own a soundtrack for is the one I still haven’t seen. Great cosmic synth creations nonetheless.

Michael Sterns - Morning Jewel on cd A great album of early new age/ambient/minimalism/cosmic synth grandeur. It existed before they quite invented any of these genre rules and thus is an organic and beautiful piece of music.

Michael Rother & Vittoria Maccabruni - As long as the Light on cd This seems marketed as more of a full collaboration between Michael and the Italian electronic musician(and his partner as well), but his guitar is more foregrounded than the album with just his name on it. It sounds very contemporary and epic and immense. Digging it!

Michael Rother - Dreaming on cd Checking in on recent Rother. Incredibly contemporary sounding and if someone handed me this blind I wouldn’t guessed whose record it was(a woman singing, and his signature guitar restrained). But I like it a lot tbh, kinda reminds of the recent Beatie Wolfe/Eno records.

Aaron Russell and Sandy Ewen - Dissectologists on tape Sandy and Aaron used to be in a really cool band more of us should remember called Weird Weeds. Both have become accomplished solo guitarists since, but I’m happy about this quasi Weird Weeds reunion (WW alum Sarah Hennies also credited with the mix). This is a deep meditative guitar duo album that I can imagine listening to over and over.

The Durutti Column - Without Mercy on cd Apparently Vini dislikes this one and considers it all Tony Wilson’s idea. But fans seem to regard it well. I will say these cd reissue covers are ugly.

The Work - Live in Japan on cd Zach from Danava burned me this disc of chaotic Beefheart/no wave/postpunk weirdness from ex Henry Cow peeps years ago, probably because I was in a band also very inspired by no wave and Beefheart at the time. I’ve since replaced that burned copy with an actual copy.
Félicia Atkinson - Sans Visage on cd I missed why the French avant garde musician is doing a new soundtrack to the horror classic, but I’m not missing an album of minimal horror synths with an accompanying essay by the great Claire Cronin.
