There is a high degree of confidence that my neighboring project manager at work will spy this cover, and ask me about the psychology of software teams, the book that is, not the topic, I know very little about the psychology of software teams, and that’s why I’m looking forward to reading Cat’s book that just arrived today!

My beloved biker friends have no idea how many pictures I take of them as figures in my photographs. These are literally ride or die people in my life, and though we rarely see each other outside of riding, either or both of them could call at any time for assistance or support or just a friendly ear, and they would have it unconditionally. I am so very fortunate to have such fine quality humans in my life, we make each other laugh, we build each other up, we look out for each other, we listen to each other unconditionally, no judgment, no opinion unless asked, they brook no bullshit, and offer only unconditional friendship. To have such marvelous relationships brought up out of the simple act of riding a bicycle is greatly empowering.

A blue trek 720 bicycle leans against a park bench on grass with greenery in the background. This blue trek 720 is over 30 years old, and has been my ride for endless hours in the saddle. This is the first time in all that time it has left me stranded. And stranded is a strong word in this situation, I am feet away from clean water, a bathroom, a popular beer joint that opens at 11 AM in 42 minutes, and my riding companions safe on their way back to their car, which they will then use to come back and pick me up. I guess I should do my stretches while I’m waiting on this perfectly good park bench in the shade on a beautiful day. It gives me time to think about my equipment strategy, I’ve always been minimalist in what I carry because so much of my riding it’s just short distance and if there’s an equipment problem, I just pickthe bike up and walk back to the car. In this particular case that walk would’ve been 6 miles, long but doable. But having a flat pop so suddenly on roads and walkways that I will expect are pretty clean, or at least have always been clean whenever I’ve written on them for the last three decades. There is a first time for everything.
