Demanding Transparency In Minnesota's Voter Rolls Earlier this year, the U.S Department of Justice (DOJ) demanded Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon produce all records related to the state’s system of verifying voter identity. Secretary Simon has since refused to comply with the DOJ’s request, raising concerns about the accuracy of Minnesota’s voter rolls. On Tuesday, Alpha News reported that Republicans in the Minnesota State Legislature have obtained Hennepin County’s master voter list, revealing significant alarms about voter integrity in the state’s most populous county. I was joined by Reps. Stauber & Fischbach in sending a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi affirming support for the DOJ’s efforts to obtain Minnesota’s voter rolls and expressing concern that the state’s continued refusal to provide these records, despite requests from the DOJ, raises serious questions about compliance with federal election laws. Access to voter roll data is critical to evaluating election integrity, ensuring federal standards are met, and restoring confidence in Minnesota’s election system. In addition, I recently helped introduce legislation that would withhold certain federal election funds until the required voter data is provided. Simply put: since Minnesota receives federal election dollars, the state should provide basic records that verify the integrity of its voter rolls. Given the serious fraud we’ve seen in many programs administered by Minnesota, transparency from our election officials matters, and Minnesotans deserve to trust that our federal elections are honest, accurate, and secure.

With around 150 employees and 90 trucks, TraLo provides transportation logistics and solutions to a wide range of customers.   I appreciated our discussion on workforce challenges, regulatory burdens, and the need for commonsense safety standards on our roads. Commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders who can’t read road signs or communicate effectively put the public’s safety at risk and shouldn’t be behind the wheel.  In December, a Department of Transportation audit found that one-third of Minnesota’s non-domiciled CDLs were illegally issued to non-citizens who did not have a lawful presence in the United States. I joined 17 of my House colleagues in sending a letter to Gov. Walz demanding his administration take all necessary steps to revoke the illegally-issued CDLs that have put Minnesota families and motorists at risk.   Thank you to the TraLo, Inc. team for taking the time to meet with me and share how these important issues are affecting the transportation industry.

Image Weekly Update from Congressman Brad Finstad | May 23, 2025 Voting in Support of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, historic legislation that: Delivers $1.6 trillion in savings; Roots our fraud, waste, and abuse across the Federal Government; Secures our border; Prevents the largest tax increase in American history; Invests in strong farm policy; Reverses the Green New Deal agenda and, Restores American energy dominance. Importantly, this legislation puts the American people first. For too long, out-of-control spending in Washington and Biden-era policies have placed a strain on hardworking families. This bill changes that. This bill prioritizes the needs of everyday Americans, secures our southern border, and marks a major step toward restoring fiscal sanity in Washington. I was proud to support this once-in-a-generation legislation and look forward to seeing it through the legislative process so we can keep the promises we made to the American people and deliver real results.
