Note that reads - We cannot claim to have empathy and work for the greater good if we continue to tell people they cannot sit with us. While I know there are strong, mixed, and valid feelings regarding people who voted differently than what we may have, we have to keep the door open. We have to allow those who wish to truly learn from their mistakes to join us. There are real situations in which someone could’ve voted differently due to circumstances we may never understand. Mass propaganda victims, limited educational resources, small town echo chambers, inability to free-think from those around them - possibility due to safety reasons, etc. Those are real reasons these things could’ve happened. We must welcome these folks in who are starting to understand and facing their mistakes in an honest way. If we do not, we will continue to fall short. Without them crossing the line, we are no better in 4 years than we are right now. We have to acknowledge that. And we have to do better. We cannot claim we are better if we are just doing things differently. We cannot spew hatred and retaliation back to those people. That leaves us no better than our opposition. 🤍, M
