Once the options were read, hubbub conversation erupted, leading to some "NO TALKING IN CLASS" yelling and insistence that everyone vote on their own. Since these are game design undergrads, a half-dozen tried to loophole vote twice to be counted as BOTH options, but these were deduped. FINAL TALLY:

Was the no talking rule one you imposed, or were the students themselves calling for it? It's curious if the latter, since neither side benefits from a lack of a discussion (unlike some game theory games where one side might want to actively dissuade others from sharing info and colluding)

52.9% voted the "blue button" option (whole class gets A) 47.1% for "red button." Before deduping to voters' initial choice, it was same result but at 50.9% Narrower than I expected! Kind of makes me feel like the arguments over interpretation of wording / framing are post-facto rationale.

I think the split chilling, tbh. Like I genuinely do not understand, as a human being, why would anyone would choose "I win, you lose" over "everyone wins". There is no downside to option 2!!!

Given these options, I would also pick 2. In the original version I saw of this question though, option 1 would win if anyone voted for it, and those who voted against would get an F. For me, with the consequences and a high likelihood of at least 1 person picking option 1, it makes no sense to go 2
