@halva It can't. It replicates math. It was known that the Jacobian conjecture was false for a very long time, but it couldn't be proven false due to the complexity of the problem (and a lack of interest in the same). If this is true and proves it false, the best the AI could do is to bruteforce the problem. It's as simple as that. How do I know? Well it's simple, where is the explanation? How did the AI reach this conclusion? It wasn't explained, they just disclosed a set of polynomials for which the Jacobian determinant is -2 and a set of points in space apparently map to the same point. Where does all of this come from? Is there a mathematical way to reach this conclusion? It's not stated. They just dumped a supposed counterexample and now everyone is flipping their balls over it. "AI is great!" If AI could do proper math, and a twitter post could prove anything, the world would go to shit. At some point you people are going to realize in the worst possible way, that AI is good at predicting patterns. It's not good at reasoning, it simply cant. AI can find patterns in mathematics. It can't do mathematics. If 100 out of 100 people say that 1 + 1 = 3, the AI will say that 1 + 1 is 3. It's as simple as that.
