I have been playing with a zinc alloy called Zamak. Stronger than pewter, and while it melts at a higher temp, it's achievable w/o a special furnace. I tried a Thermacast resin mold, but it's new to me and I got bad results. Great results with silicone, but it's not rated to withstand the temps.

My next steps will be to rework the model for the resin molds, since it is supposed to withstand the temps required. But the silicone has held up so far, so maybe it'll be fine. The resin is expensive, so even if the silicone molds fail after a dozen or so, that might still be more cost effective.
