RCMP Nova Scotia Facebook post: “Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a person in possession of a firearm who was linked to an ongoing investigation. During the response, an RCMP officer discharged their service weapon. On July 9 at approximately 9 a.m., Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a person in possession of a weapon on Hwy. 210 near Chelsea. Officers identified the man as the same person associated to an ongoing investigation about a suspicious person potentially in possession of a weapon from the previous day. He was the subject of an Alert Ready emergency alert in Lunenburg and Queens counties on July 8. During the RCMP response, an officer discharged their firearm. The man sustained injuries consistent with a gun shot wound. Officers provided first aid on scene. No other injuries were reported. The matter has been referred to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) as per the Nova Scotia Police Act. SiRT independently investigates all serious incidents which arise from the actions of police in Nova Scotia. There does not have to be an allegation of wrongdoing.”

Another friend told us the stories they’d grown up with. Their family had been in Germany, in hiding for years before escaping in 1937. They’d grown up being told, again and again, that their neighbors hadn’t helped them. That the family had been alone until they’d escaped. The person telling me this started choking up while they talked, and I started crying a little while I listened, and they told me that this time, this time, if they could have anything to do with it at all, families in hiding would know that they weren’t alone. That their neighbors were with them. Unspoken, but written on faces of the people in the room, was the fact that neighbors, strangers, would die for one another. Renee Good already had.

Total Number of People Experiencing Homelessness On November 25, 2024, the minimum number of people identified as experiencing homelessness in HRM was 1,132 (1,009 adults and 123 children). This enumeration number includes a combination of observed homelessness from the Street Count, official bed count reports from shelter and health sites, and survey information for individuals & families who would not have otherwise been counted based on where they reported staying on the night of the Count (this would include those who stayed with others and several who were in vehicles which were not noted on the Street Count tally sheets). The number of people experiencing known homelessness in 2024 was almost double that of the 2022 Count results (586)

Celgene had kept the price of Thalomid low when it was initially intended for AIDS patients, CEO John Jackson told investors in 2004, as the company "didn't want huge numbers of people demonstrating in front" of its office. That wasn't a problem with cancer patients. There was "plenty of room for very substantial increases" in the price of the drug now, Jackson told investors.

Ray Webb was at the rally with his wife, daughter, and other family members. Webb lives in Blue Mountain, a community not far from another community called Garden of Eden and on the way to Sherbrooke Village. He said he’s had Liberal candidates visit his home. “I’m looking at them and say, ‘you had nine years and you never fixed nothing,'” Webb said. “Maybe this guy will get things done.” Webb said he wants Poilievre to fix crime and in particular sex trafficking. I asked if there’s a lot of crime in his area, and while he said no, he does lock his doors on his home now. He said there’s been more theft in the community.

There will be division even in the same family, because some want to live more comfortably by the world's principles, those of power and money. But others have embraced the call of Christ and must reject all that cannot be just in the world.

Big congrats to Andrew for being lightning-fast with the buzzer and extremely strong in a wide variety of topics. Hats off to Courtney for being the only one to get a tough Final Jeopardy clue! Getting on Jeopardy was an 18 year journey for me, but in the end, it couldn't have come at a better time. My occupation for the show was listed as "Technology Manager," but as Anise alluded to in her post yesterday, there's much more to the story than that. I had been working in tech-focused roles for international nonprofits in the aid and development sector for more than a decade, when just a few weeks before taping, my job and the jobs of thousands of my then-current and former colleagues all disappeared overnight with the elimination of USAID. I'll forgo getting into the politics of it all, despite the sudden loss of my career being inherently political, but I'm incredibly grateful to have my Jeopardy winnings to help carry me through this transitionary period. If anyone has any leads on remote opportunities for internationally-focused roles of all kinds and/or managerial roles related to cybersecurity, feel free to reach out! Thanks again to the Jeopardy community for all the support as I finally got to achieve this lifelong dream.
