My parents and I at the start line— I’m wearing last year’s event shirt, green of course, a rainbow neck gaiter, and a bright yellow hat so they can find me. Mom is wearing this year’s event shirt under her rain coat and a black beanie with PDX on it. Dad is wearing a bright yellow hat so I can find him later, and a heavy rain coat. There are barriers behind us and thousands of people milling around by the blue Porta potties and Event merchandise tents, waiting for their races. The street lights and park lights are on because it is kind of dark and rainy.
