A pub landlord wanted a new sign for his pub, the Crown and Thistle, so he hired a sign painter to get him a new one. She came out with a nice piece of wood and drew out the artwork for him and whilst he loved the picture, the kerning was of, apparently he said that the gaps between Crown and and and and and Thistle weren't large enough.
