Miss Dashwood had a delicate complexion, regular features, and a remarkably pretty figure.
Marianne was still handsomer. Her form, though not so correct as her sister's, in having the advantage of height, was more striking; and her face war lovely, that when in the common cant of praise, she was called a beautiful girl, truth was less violently outraged than usually happens. Her skin was very brown, but, from its transparency, her complexion was uncommonly brilliant; her features were all good; her smile was sweet and attractive; and in her eyes, which were very dark, there was a life, a spirit, an eagerness, which could hardly be seen without delight.

CHEERHOUND
Nothing makes Sara Thacker feel good the way being top of a cheer pyramid does. The joy comes from a million different things. The roar of the crowd. The marching band playing in her ear. The wind in her scanty uniform. Her fellow friends holding her up. All eyes on her, showering her with praise and applause, applause, applause, for being a pretty girl with pretty eyes and pretty blonde hair. It's fucking perfect. That's what you get for being captain. The captain, of the Leukon Hall Christian Preparatory Academy Cheer Team.

Or at least, it was, before she quit the team. This spring, junior year, she had this... meltdown, the week before regional finals. All that pressure, all those expectations went to her head, and she just... stopped. They tried to compete without her, but didn't even place, and then they turned on her. It wasn't her fault, she tried to convince everyone. But everyone blamed her. Everyone called her a traitor. Sara Thacker was a disappointment.

After her episode, her parents made her go to group therapy. There was only one therapist in Hillsboro, Oregon, a pleasant older woman by the name of Jane Hanslow—though everyone called her Dr. Jane. Her methods were admittedly unconventional. Hanslow believed in therapeutic hypnosis, and this niche psychological theory she called Radical Animalism. Still, Sara came to appreciate and respect her like a mentor. She taught her so much about herself, and filled her head with so many useful new tools for managing her anxiety. She felt like... well, she felt like a whole new person.
