My understanding is that gain of function type research including today with SARS-CoV-2, are BSL-3 or higher. I don’t know what caused their sickness. My main issue is that plenty of scientists say we can never know for certain due to obstruction. Questioning seems reasonable.

Your information is outdated, including the table you posted that was last revised in May 2020. NIH characterizes COVID at BSL-2. research.wayne.edu/oehs/bio-saf... Noting that we'll never know is reasonable. Treating a lab leak as any kind of likely scenario is not reasonable.
