It feels familiar enough as he turns it in his palm, inspecting the length of hide that flicks dramatically at its end in much the same way that his horse, Nessa - and Jon, for that matter - will swipe their tail from side to side to signal their frustrations. But he was never keen to use a whip of any sort, and would avoid them whenever he could. He's found that the livestock he's cared for on the estate could more often be reasoned with, if one just met them on their level. Maybe a rough and assured hand to guide them when they're frightened, but pain for the sake of it always felt too cruel. And yet... -"Right, so erm you want me to hit you?"
