make the scale inconsistent. losing X health should mive a different amount even if X doesn't change.
Base64 encode the health number
Create your own new set of numerals to replace the numbers and don't put a translation key anywhere. This also gives you the opportunity to add some extra stylistic flair
Make the numbers twitch
Make it roman numbers, switch the colors of the health bar (health in black) and make it go top to bottom
