Page 14, panel 1, 2, 3. Narration: power surges from your gut. It's in your lungs. Oscillating like the waves in the ocean. It can choke, flood, drown. Panel 1, viktor’s blackened torso whirls with the unique signature of the hexcore anomaly, energy bolts gathering around his body. Panel 2, the arcane herald's dark face, seen from below. His eyes shine brightly. Panel 3, Viktor's hand lifts in the air, shaping the raw motion of the anomaly. His hand smears into fractals. panels 4 through 8: a flashback, of jayce giving a presentation in the academy. He is framed in front of a sky blue board, and says; most magic users live by instinct. the workings of their powers are like a black box. personalized, unseen, extremely random. so, the anthesis of science. hextech works differently. jayce winks. somewhere in the distance, a younger viktor watches his speech with a proud smile. Jayce continues: with our rune pattern keys, we bypass that cryptic connection mages have, allowing anyone to access the arcane with a proven, highly specific formula. Jayce holds a long stick to gesture at the many boards pushed together on the wall. some of them mounted on top of others to form the larger picture of his years studying magic. panels 9 through 11; the style shifts. back into the childish nightmare of viktor’s younger years. Narration, white on black. Ever since I was a little boy, all I've ever wanted was- a large puddle of blood covers the next panel. The thought is discarded. In the next panel, a child viktor braces himself against a large laboratory implement, holding a hammer in hand. he's breathing hard, blood splattered on his clothing, dripping from the blunt end of his weapon. his face is scribbled out, but tears still fall. end page.

Page 10, panel 1: Viktor's naked body plunges into a deep well of water. He falls from above like a comet, the weight of his being sinking like a stone. He is a minuscule figure in a vast sea of darkness. Panel 2: in the far off distance, a cross of light emerges from the depths. In the foreground, viktor remains unconscious and sinking, water bubbles escaping from his nostrils and his open mouth. Panel 3: a wispy light body with weightless limbs jumps from the cross of light, skipping mid air. It stops to look at viktor’s body in stasis, a growing number of bubbles storming out of his throat, and exclaims; WOW! That's metal. Up close, this viktor’s body is slightly different. His hair is noticeably shorter like his season 1 self. Panel 4: suddenly, the wispy creature screams. HEY! ARE YOU THE HERALD? I AM LOOKING FOR THE HERALD. The loud voice startles viktor out of his stupor, and his eyes widen in shock. He tries to speak and spits out a tornado of bubbles. Now that viktor is awakening, this dream begins to dissolve, and the wispy creature loses its humanoid shape. They morph into a beam of light that disappears inside the cross in the horizon. Page 4. The tsunami wave swallows viktor and spits him out somewhere else. He falls on his head, and his cane is launched above him. Panel 2; he braces himself on the floor, sopping wet. His winter coat and hair drip with salt water. Using his cane as support, Viktor pushes himself up. 25 cogs, he reminds himself, in a thought balloon. Panel 3; in the dim line to enter the factory, one body among endless other puppet workers, viktor reminds himself; 25 cogs, in a thought balloon. Panel 3; three drawings of three clocks, decreasing in quality. The first is the most accurate, while the last has so many converging lines distorting the figure its barely a clock at all. The number 25 repeats three more times, as time passes. Panel 4; the door to the foreman’s office, closed. Panel 5; Viktor appears, leaning on his cane, and knocks on it. Knock knock. From inside, the foreman’s voice comes out startled. He screams. AHH! WHO IS IT? VIKTOR? WHO’S- OH. COME IN. COME ON RIGHT IN! End page.
Page 12, panel 1. A long vertical slice of sea witch nami in all her glory, towering as tall as a skyscraper over the black ocean. In her outstretched arm, she summons a green arcane bubble with a ghost ship inside. Her voice booms in all caps. HOW I’VE LONGED FOR THE MOMENT I’LL WIPE YOUR STENCH FROM MY SEAS! Panel 2, her giant hand pops the bubble and the greenish-teal ghost ship splashes onto the water, the sails torn, an octopus mermaid sculpted onto the fore. A man stands at the edge, torn coat glimmering with her magic. She says; NOW LUCIAN, STRIKE! DO NOT FALTER. Panel 3, a close up on the man’s face. He tips his pirate hat slightly, hesitating to answer. As you say, witch. Panel 4. Lucian pulls out two large guns, clicking them in the air. He readies himself for the shot. He’s an older man, dark skinned. White hair braided into tentacle-like shapes and flying behind him with the push and pull of the waves. Seawater goes everywhere. Panel 5, he aims for the figure on the horizon. Viktor is in his crosshairs, arms open and arcane webs extending behind him in a multicolor vortex. FWOOOM. It’s hard to make out his face but his teeth are bared, his coat whipping with the brute force of his magic. Panel 6, lucian is taken aback, muttering; that’s not senna. Page 6, panel 1. Viktor is utterly startled by Jayce’s action, looking down at their joined hands like a bomb is about to go off. Panel 2, their palms are joined gently, the point of contact shimmering, like bright stalks of light among the cosmic darkness of the astral plane. Viktor’s vision shifts into herald vision. Panel 3. Jayce smiles affectionately at his partner, his body glowing baby pink and blue, made of stardust. He has 4 fingerprints on his forehead, made by the herald in their confrontation days ago. The astral plane sparkles invitingly around his presence. He is also wearing a new black woolen undershirt and a fashionably uneven gray jacket, acquired by viktor. Jayce asks: can you, um. See anything interesting inside? Panel 4. Viktor pulls back his hands with a jolt and shows his palms in the air. Shocked. He seems flabbergasted, tripping over his words. Inside of- oh! You mean in your… head? Just some white dots. Nothing else I'm afraid. In the foreground of the same panel, a chibi jayce awkwardly laughs, his moment ruined. Huh, he says. That’s a little bit anticlimactic. The black narration comes right after his statement, in an accusing tone: MADMAN. Panel 5. Viktor pulls back with a twisted smirk, processing what he’s heard. Jayce talis. Were you HOPING I could mess around in your head? He asks, Extra emphasis on hoping. Panel 6, jayce rubs his neck embarrassingly. He’s flushing red. I’M NOT- of course it sounds evil when you say it like that. Panel 7. Viktor continues to tease him. You can just tell me things, you know. With your mouth. Extremely flustered now, jayce hides his face behind his wrists, he swears, I didn’t mean it like… Viktor leans further on the table, propping up his chin on his palm. He’s now in his element, smugly remarking: Extracting secrets from your mind isn’t exactly ideal. End of page.
Page 1 of the second act of the comic. It is a single panel, the background of which is splattered with ink like a bottle was upturned over the blank canvas. The very bottom is white, while most of the page is full of smeared splotches. Their motion is sudden and violent enough that it could be interpreted as blood. Inside the wound-like black smears, there are white narration letters, stating: For the next 3 days, viktor wakes to a dawning sunrise somewhere he's never been. On the off center, a single closeup panel of Viktor laying on he floor, waking up with a gasp. He seems really perturbed about his nightmare. One Million Happy Endings, Phase 2 begins. end page.
Page 13. Panel 1. Viktor thinks: beings of flesh and blood can die so easily. It’s terrifying. The panel depicts him hugging Jayce tightly, stuffing his arms inside the jacket, his leg between jayce’s, burying his head on his partner’s chest. For his part, jayce seems so deeply asleep he does not stir at the contact. Panel 2, an image of a piltovan toy knight with his head ripped from his shoulders. Its body scatters on a table uncomfortably, lying on a puddle of oil that looks like blood. Those are viktor’s thoughts plaguing him. What if. What if? Panel 3, pure black fading into gray. Narration. Exhausted, Viktor drifts away with a promise. Panel 4, the last one, is framed by darkness and snow blowing in chunks from outside the page. Baby jayce, trapped in the snowstorm, is seen screaming help from afar. Viktor’s promise is as follows: I won’t let you come to harm. End page.

Jayce is wrapped in bandages, his arm semi raised as if begging viktor to accept him. he is rejected. Panel 5. Black. You want to say: I think I ruined your life without meaning to. Just as you ruined mine. Panel 6: flashback to season 1 viktor visiting singed's lab, withering under the pressure of his terminal diagnosis. Singed's hand holds up a purple shimmer vial, casting neon lights over Viktor's gaunt face. Narration reads: I was supposed to be a rational man. Panel 7, black. Thought continues: To desire nothing. to be self-sufficient. Leave the world better than I found it. Panel 8: a close up shot of Viktor's naked body, runes carved onto his chest and arms. he bleeds purple shimmer. text reads, like a mantra: jayce will understand. Panel 9, at last, breaks the bounds of the others to make the whole end of the page a dark ink splotch. viktor stands alone in the middle of it, head bowed in shame. He hesitates in speaking, simply saying “I…” and pausing. The narration ends the thought in his head; but I desired more.

It is a shot of viktor from behind, long haired and wrapped in a blanket. wilderness stretches out before him, thick with woods and leaves. the greenness of the trees is the only part of the page with color. Panel 3, he examines his body, baffled. Alive. Himself. Panel 4: Not alone. Viktor hears a laugh to his right and turns to see Jayce laying down on the grass not too far away from him. Panel 5: a close up of Jayce’s smiling, shiny, breathless face. He grins, showing the gap between his teeth and says: Quite the landing, huh? Panel 6: Not alone. The rest is of little concern. Aerial shot of viktor throwing himself over jayce, both of them rolling in the grass and hugging, their bodies tangled. Viktor's blanket trails in the soil. Jayce wears his fur coat from the last battle.
