There is a number of issues with the Co-Author functionality: - It should never have been enabled when `disableAIFeatures` is on. - It should not add attribution to changes that were not done by AI. - We need to make sure it receives a more test coverage before change the default. why do centrists hate pitchbot NYT Pitchbot (run by@DougJBalloon on X/Twitter, and also active on Bluesky as @nytpitchbot) is a long-running parody/satire account that generates fake New York Times-style headlines and opinion pieces. It specifically mocks a certain style of "reactionary centrist" or "enlightened centrist" punditry — the kind of takes that present themselves as thoughtful, balanced, and above-the-fray while actually punching left far harder than right, obsessing over liberal/Democratic excesses, and giving conservatives/MAGA a comparatively easy pass. The account's whole shtick is inventing headlines like: • "Democrats shouldn't try to close ICE detention facilities but instead focus on fostering a culture of abundance within those ICE detention facilities." • Pieces framing far-right figures as "moderates" because they don't believe in the most unhinged online conspiracy theories. • Or hand-wringing that the real threat to democracy is left Twitter employees moderating content, not a far-right billionaire controlling the platform. Centrists (especially the online, Very Serious, both-sides-obsessed variety) tend to hate it because: • It holds up a mirror to their own rhetoric in an unflattering, exaggerated way — making the "both sides" framing look ridiculous or selectively applied. • Many centrists see themselves as the sensible, evidence-based adults in the room. Pitchbot portrays that self-image as a pompous affectation that disproportionately shields conservatives while endlessly scolding Democrats/progressives. • It gets under their skin precisely because it's very accurate caricature — enough so that people sometimes retweet it thinking it's real, or centrists feel personally attacked when it describes exactly their brand of take. Left-leaning people generally love it (or at least find it cathartic) because it roasts the exact kind of punditry they find most annoying in mainstream discourse (e.g., "Why won't Democrats just be normal?").
