Social media encourages us to 'share' online. Facebook's business model depends on people revealing aspects of themselves online. When users share less personal content, Facebook worries and tweaks the platform to encourage more sharing. Share everything you can, is the message. Tell us who you are, tell us how you feel, tell us about your family and friends, tell the world what you think about other people. We want to know. We want to hear what you have to say. Social media platforms promote a culture in which people are discouraged from holding back.
