Let's get specific, #pretendpanel. If you need silence, do you have to make any special arrangements? If you make playlists, is there a guiding philosophy? Tell me... May 9th: How do you cultivate your sound environment when writing? #WritingCommunity #Writers #Authors #WritingPrompts

Love having/making soundtracks, but have a kid that dislikes hearing music the way that I do and I'm not an earphones person, so I've gone about training myself to hum/sing the songs I've curated for the assignment inside my head while working. (One day it will make me invincible at karaoke too.)

I prefer the quiet for actual writing. Nature sounds are great (as long as it's not dogs making Mac and cheese sounds with their mouths.) if I write in a cafe I have a playlist that fits the moods or themes I'm working on. I listen to it when I'm brainstorming at work also. #pretendpanel

I need silence to focus in general except when doing like, data entry type work, so I try to write when I鈥檓 alone. That doesn鈥檛 always happen at home so I try to voice dictate initial drafts while walking outside. I鈥檓 getting better at it!

sometimes the tv is on, sometimes there is music, other times, there is nothing happening
