Find a snappier chat app than Chatto, I dare you! This scrolling here includes pagination requests (remote, not local, phhsssh.) Each request served in just under 50ms. (Well, I admit I'm on the same continent.)

This sort of speed wasn't even a goal, it just happened. I recently refactored Chatto's backend to fully embrace event sourcing, and each process is holding some projections in local memory for hot paths. Fun!

What language is the backend written in, and how do you persist chat messages? I‘m still trying to triangulate what makes for fast server services vs speed by local caches w. event fanout from server

it's almost as fast from north america. just the occasional fraction of a second hitch on the scroll, but still a gabajillion times faster than discord or slack.
