The authors concluding point in this chapter, which I wholly endorse and not just in a hypnosis context. You _cannot_ ethically rely on the supposed "unconscious" to protect people. Ever. Full stop. Sure I can add nuance with training a witness, but that's not unconscious (and it is training).

Like just… Even if you accept as a model (all models are wrong, etc) that there is an unconscious mind and accept as a premise that it is an always helpful and protective force (lol). Accepting all of that as a given. As fact. Which we shouldn't It would be _horribly unethical_ to depend on it.
