One of the techniques that RS writers use to critique their predecessors and show how the publication has evolved is by quoting from past reviews and articles. I've done it myself. I wonder if readers notice? This is from the Laura Nyro piece that was published today: "Fans were ecstatic over the shows, giving ovation after ovation, but critics were less than kind. And yet his description of her was devoid of any complexity at all, reducing her to her looks.
